About Me
Welcome to the wonderful world of me!
“Me” in this case is Angie J. Han, a SoCal-raised, Brooklyn-based writer/editor (aren’t they all?) who likes thinking about pop culture, especially films, television, and how feminism relates to both. I’m currently a staff writer at Slashfilm and a contributor at Geeks of Doom, and I’ve guest-starred on such podcasts as the /Filmcast, CriterionCast, and Flix of Doom– check my Portfolio page for links to specific pieces. Going back further, I’ve worked as the Arts & Living editor of my college newspaper, The Amherst Student, and interned at The Advocate.
Currently, you can also find me and my work on Tumblr and Twitter– in addition to this website right here, of course. Or shoot me an e-mail at angie at angiehan dot com.
Viewpoint
I was pop culture-deprived for much of my early life, but fell in love with film in high school, when a Hollywood Video opened across the street from my house. It wasn’t long before I started spending my free time roaming the aisles, picking out videos to take home. As a college student, I double majored in Women’s Studies and English (concentration: popular culture). I love film as an art form, but I love its mainstream impact too. Best of all is when it intersects with my interest in feminism– that’s when I get all hot and bothered. Because while all art has the ability to move and educate, popular culture’s widespread appeal gives it the capability to change society itself.
